In recent times, I have reviewed numerous Fenda Audio products (mini/portable speakers, multimedia speaker system and portable speakers) and let me admit that New Delhi-based F&D, established and initiated in 2006, is pretty meticulous in its speaker design, using high-end materials and committing long hours to R&D before it lets its speakers see the light of day. This time around, their focus seems to be on sound bars. F&D has introduced the T388 Sound Bar, priced at R12,990. Basically, you can use it to effortlessly stream music from mobile devices and computers. You can also get more from your TV with this Bluetooth-equipped sound bar. Let us check the finer details of this audio system.
After lugging the F&D T388’s somewhat big cardboard package into my test facility (TV room where I stock all the devices to be reviewed), I unwrapped it to reveal a smooth audio system. The bar immediately exudes quality, striking a succinct design. In simple words, the T388 comes with a neat design and great build quality. It is a compact speaker bar coupled with a sub-woofer. It also comes with digital audio supporting through optical and coaxial input, bright LED display with good view angle, and a full function remote control. The scrolling display appears through the front grille when powered up and the base is a pleasure to operate, thanks to its logical design and slick looks. Set up is a simple affair, just connect the wires provided and you are ready to enjoy your music.
Probing the innards, the T388 Sound Bar comes with a 2-inch full range driver, 1 tweeter and an 8-inch driver that provides a quick home theatre solution and thunderous sound. It provides an efficient wireless freedom pertaining to its wireless subwoofer with front-firing rich sound, resounding bass. The best part is, it can be positioned anywhere in your household.
Switched on, the T388 is pretty adept at streaming music wirelessly from your mobile phone or laptop.
All you need to do is manually pair it with Bluetooth. It emits pretty good sound and the Sound Bar creates a room-filling virtual surround sound that brings entertainment to life. In case you want to sync it with your TV, the T388 fits discreetly under the flat panel TV. Be it your regular daytime TV, high-fidelity movie soundtracks and music streamed by Bluetooth from a mobile phone or laptop, the F&D Sound Bar won’t disappoint one bit.
Performance-wise, from the moment I began using the T388 as our Sony TV’s primary sound system, we were treated to rich, clear audio, bursting with detail. The F&D Sound Bar creates a gorgeous balance between its strong command of the delicate intricacies of speech and sound effects, and a potent, musical force in the heavier moments of action that made everything I played more vibrant and realistic.
The T388 also doubles as a serious machine for engulfing yourself in your favourite tunes. I tested the F&D system over several genres from my music library stored on my Dell laptop and its penchant for detail, dynamic response, power, and clarity made it a very good speaker system.
In summary, the T388 has a fine detail, warm, powerful and dynamic sound that, in my opinion, far exceeds its sound bar status. If you are looking for a real taste of Hi-Fi sound in a decent-sized package,
you can seriously consider F&D’s T388 Sound Bar.
