After a relatively quiet 2014, at least in the Indian market, Dell on Tuesday announced a slew of devices at CES 2015, calling them its “best portfolio of consumer devices” ever. Our pick of the launches is the new Dell XPS 13, arguably the smallest 13-inch laptop in the world. Sam Burd, Vice President of Client Solution Product Group, held the device adjacent to a MacBook Air 13 to prove his point and also to clarify the company’s intent. The XPS 13 features a borderless infinity Quad HD display and up to 15 hours of battery life with an Intel Broadwell processor. It weighs all of 1.17 kg and is priced $799 in the US. The XPS 15, meanwhile, comes with a 4K display option and a very pricey $2,349 price tag. But going by the way Dell has treated the Indian market when it comes to their flagship devices we are not sure if these devices will be launched here. Dell seems to be focussing on the Inspiron range and tablets in this market. So the interesting launch for India is the ultra thin Dell Venue 8 7000 featuring the Intel Atom Z 3500 processor. It also features a 2560x1600p display. The US price is $399 for this tablet. And the new Dell Inspiron 7000 series could be among the most affordable 4K displays to hit the Indian market. Only Toshiba has launched a 4K display laptop in India so far. Again leading the way in gaming laptops, the company announced new Alienware 15 and Alienware 17 laptops with 4K options at a stunning 60 frames per second. The two will feature Intel Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GTX980m graphics. They are also 20 per cent thinner than their predecessors. The two are priced $1,199 and $1,499, respectively.
