The Facebook-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp has started rolling out its new updates for iPhone users. The new update will let the iOS users switch between voice calls and video calls with a single tap. Another feature that the users will get is the presence of ‘@’ mentions button in group chats. The ‘@’ button will allow the WhatsApp users to scroll back to unread messages in which your friend had mentioned you. Recently, WhatsApp had launched quick voice call to video call switch for its Android users.

The update which is version 2.18.22 is listed in the App Store, and it states,”You can now easily switch between voice and video calls. Just tap the video button while you’re on a call. You’ll now see the ‘@’ button in group chats. Tap on it to quickly scroll to unread messages where you were replied to or mentioned.” The features have started to roll out.

Before the new feature was introduced, users had to disconnect the voice call and then switch to the video call. A new button will make it easy, for users to toggle from voice to video call. A request will be sent to the contact and if s/he accepts the call the user will be able to video call.

For the video call switch feature to work, both parties on the call need to be on the latest version of WhatsApp. Those requesting a video call switch will be informed if the recipient doesn’t have the feature enabled.

Another new feature that was mentioned in the changelog while updating is the ‘@’ button shortcut in group chats. It will help the users to quickly go through old chats which they were tagged at.
