It looks like the Android smartphones have finally accepted the Apple’s iPhone notch. First, it was the Asus Zenfone 5 series who embraced the notch, then the rumoured next flagship from OnePlus is likely to have the notch, and now the latest to join the notch family is the next smartphone from Oppo. Shared on the Chinese website Weibo is the image of next offering from OnePlus’s sister company, Oppo – the R15 and R15 Plus.
Although the image doesn’t say much about the smartphone, it can be expected to follow the suite of the bezel-less trend on smartphones. One major thing to know about Oppo’s next offering is that it will the Apple iPhone X like notch at the top-centre of the screen. What the notch hides remain a mystery but it seems to have the earpiece and the front-facing camera along with other sensors as well.
While there are many who simply do not care about the Apple iPhone X’s notch, but there are a lot of users who are appalled by it calling it ‘obtrusive. There still has not been any word from the smartphone brand on the release or launch date of R15 and R15 Plus. The listing on Weibo is the only place where the next smartphone is doing the rounds. So far, the global or Indian availability is in the dark. But if rumours are to be believed, this offering from the Oppo may be another one to copy the design language of Apple iPhone.
Meanwhile, recently announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was Asus’ Zenfone 5. Asus ZenFone 5Z looks very much like the iPhone X with the ‘notch’ on the top of the display. The device has 90 per cent screen to body ratio. As for the specifications, Asus ZenFone 5Z packs 4GB RAM and a decent 64GB storage. The pricing has been very close to the OnePlus 5T with 479 euros which is close to Rs. 38,400.
