Apple, as a company is known to be secretive about its product details before a launch. But did it just accidentally reveal one totally new feature?
Apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its iPhone, and it is expected that the company will bring a great new iPhone 8 this year. The leaks and rumours about the Apple iPhone 8 have been the talk of the town for quite some time now. Meanwhile, Apple, as a company is known to be secretive about its product details before a launch. However, according to some reports, such a thing might have just happened. Famous software developer Steve Troughton-Smith, recently found that Apple mistakenly released software code for its upcoming iPhone. There is no clarity on whether the program is legitimate, though Troughton-Smith said that it is “1,000% real”. However, such a leak suggests Apple is planning a new facial-scanning feature in its upcoming “iPhone 8.”
Troughton-Smith said to have analysed the program, and inside it, he found a mention of a “face detect operation.” The resulting code references the use of a camera, access to stored facial information, and more, according to the information Troughton-Smith tweeted over the weekend. That alone, he said, is proof that Apple is indeed planning a facial-recognition feature in its upcoming handset. Recently, international magazine Forbes has released images of the much talked about the design of iPhone 8. That gave us a much better look at what the smartphone may look like, and for now, it appears that this device will be unlike any other iPhone that has launched in the past.

The report, which also carried designs of the Apple iPhone 8, says the new iPhone will not have any bezels at all, something that has been talked about earlier as well. Apple will completely eliminate bezels on the display. Previously Ming Chi-Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities had said Apple iPhone 8 will have the highest screen-to-body ratio seen in any smartphone. Meanwhile, Kuo had posted his 10 predictions for the iPhone 8, which is expected to be revealed this. According to the report by Kuo, posted on the Street Insider website, the iPhone 8 may not have the famous fingerprint scanner embedded within the display screen.Kuo reasons, that the technology needs ‘a more complex panel and pixel design’ for the OLED.
In another report, Forbes had revealed some of the biggest changes in the much anticipated Apple iPhone 8. As per the report, iPhone 8 will have new design language and is also expected to boost facial and gesture recognisable laser sensor with front-camera to help authenticate the owner’s face and also scan the eyes’ iris pattern to unlock iPhone screens.
