Amazon India has kicked off its sale season of 2017. The 4-day ‘Great Indian Sale’ has started and will run until May 14. Meanwhile, Flipkart will follow with a similar sale from May 14 to May 18 to mark its 10th anniversary. This sale by Amazon comes after September-October in 2016, which was held in the festival season on Dussehra and Diwali. Ever since the government put up guidelines in 2016, where it capped the sales by a single seller on marketplaces at 25 percent, the number of sales have reduced. The guidelines also do not allow marketplaces to offer discounts, and can only be offered by the sellers. Meanwhile, in the latest offering, Amazon has put up several deals and discounts on the products present on its portal.
Amazon’s Great Indian Sale includes offers on categories across the board including electronics, home appliances and apparels. It will be offering discounts as high as 70 percent on fashion and lifestyle products. Discounts on large appliances are in the range of 30 to 40 percent, consumer electronics including mobile phone have deals with 50 percent discount, and there is a discount of around 60 to 70 percent on women’s and men’s fashion. In the sale, Amazon is offering up to 60 percent discounts on a multitude of products. The deals include Indian brands like Bajaj, Prestige and Fastrack, and also foreign brands like Adidas, Samsung, LG among others.
