Amazon India has just announced that it will host its annual Great Indian Sale during this festive season. Amazon will take on rival e-commerce company Flipkart, as the sale will go on from September 21 to September 24. Meanwhile, the Flipkart’s sale called the Big Billion Days will be held from September 20 to September 24. It is interesting to note that both Flipkart and Amazon have announced the festival special sale on the same days, as usually, they differ a bit. Notably, the Great Indian Sale will open for Amazon Prime users on September 20 itself from noon.
As e-tailers gear up to rain discounts on the eve of the festive season, they have already started to add new warehouses, apart from onboarding more products. Early in September, Amazon India almost doubled its warehouse capacity by launching its largest warehouse at Jamalpur, Haryana. The company now runs 41 fulfilment centres across India. Meanwhile, Flipkart, which will be rolling out the fourth edition of the Big Billion Days sale, claims that customers will get as much as 90 percent discount on products across all categories.
