Tata Consultancy Services CEO N Chandrasekaran has received a 14% hike in total salary for FY15, with his annual compensation reaching Rs 21.28 crore from Rs 18.68 crore in FY14. Chandrasekaran, who took over as CEO at India’s largest IT services exporter in 2009, received a salary of Rs 1.79 crore, allowances and perquisites of Rs 3.48 crore and a hefty commission of Rs 16 crore.

Chandrasekaran’ compensation accounts for 0.03% of TCS’ revenue. The other highest-paid executive at the company is CFO Rajesh Gopinathan, with a total compensation of Rs 2.15 crore.

TCS ended FY15 with a revenue of Rs 94,648 crore, recording annual growth of 15.7%. Net profit during this period, excluding the one-time bonus of Rs 2,630 crore, was Rs 21,912 crore, a rise of 14.3%. The IT major currently has over 3.19 lakh employees spread across 60 countries and it paid an average salary increase of 10% during FY15.

Chandrasekaran was the highest-paid IT company CEO in the country before Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka took over, with the ex-sap veteran’s total compensation amounting to a little over $5 million.

Sikka’s annual compensation includes a base salary of $900,000 and a variable pay of $4,180,000. For FY15, he received a salary of $7,16,539 on a pro rata basis as his appointment was effective from August 1, 2014.

The other big grosser in the IT company executives list is Wipro CEO TK Kurien, who received a total compensation of $1.3 million in FY15, up from $1.1 million in the previous fiscal.

The $146-billion Indian IT industry has been one of the best compensation providers among all the sectors in the country. Typically for most IT services companies, salaries account for more than 50% of the total cost.

However, in the last three years, annual salary increases at IT services companies have come down to 6-10% from the earlier average of 15-20%.
