Snapdeal names Bharti ex-exec as strategy officer

Snapdeal on Monday announced the appointment of Govind Rajan as the chief strategy officer, with effect from August.

Snapdeal on Monday announced the appointment of Govind Rajan as the chief strategy officer, with effect from August. Rajan had served as chief marketing officer (B2C) at Bharti Airtel. Concurrently, he was also Airtel Money CEO.

Rajan has also worked for over 15 years at Hindustan Unilever. He has worked across a diverse range of categories and headed different roles. His portfolio included marquee brands, such as Dove, Ponds, Fair & Lovely, Vaseline, Lakme, Pears, Lifebuoy and Lux. In these roles, he was responsible for driving P&L, Portfolio management across Brands, building new categories such as Body lotions, Facewash and leading in market execution. Rajan has a Masters degree in International Business from IIFT and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras.

Snapdeal in its competition with two main rivals Amazon and Flipkart has been aggressively expanding its management bandwidth by hiring executives from bluechip companies.
