Gurgaon-based e-commerce company, Snapdeal has recorded the shortest delivery time, according to a research by PricewaterhouseCooper and RedSeer Consulting.
According to the report, in Tier 2 cities, Snapdeal can complete delivery in about 6 days while Amazon and Flipkart clocked 6.88 days and 8.17 days, respectively.
In Tier 3 cities, Snapdeal registered average delivery time of 6.11 days while Amazon showed 7.80 and Flipkart 8.97 days.
“This is a validation of our efforts to build robust logistical capabilities using both technology and partnership,” said Jayant Sood, chief experience officer at Snapdeal.
While talking to FE, Sood said that Snapdeal has tie-up with Gojavas for last-mile delivery and Vulcal for first mile pic- up.
Over the last year, Snapdeal invested $300 million to build supply chain capabilities and innovation in delivery cycle. During the year, Snapdeal also added 2 million square feet of area in warehousing across 25 cities and set-up 63 fulfillment centers to ensure a delivery network of 28,000 pin codes.
To strength its delivery network Snapdeal recently announced plug and play logistics management system for visibility of shipments in transit while Flipkart will be launching Flipkart Maps for greater accuracy of customer address and faster delivery.
The research was based on delivery of electronics such as mobile, tablet and laptops, and apparels, which constitute almost 75% sales in the e-commerce industry, the report said.
The delivery was tracked across 119 pincodes in metros, Tier II and Tier III cities and 35 SKUs.
