Ace photographer Raghu Rai releases a coffee-table book shot entirely on a smartphone
Smartphone photography is fast becoming the norm these days. Most of these hand-held devices are now in the affordable price range and, more significantly, come with remarkably good cameras. Throw in some free-to-use editing apps and designated social platforms, and you have yourself a modern smartphone photographer.
But when a celebrated photographer like Raghu Rai shoots an entire coffee-table book using just a smartphone, it speaks volumes about the growing popularity of the genre. Rai used the 24-megapixel Gionee ELIFE E8 to compile shots—from the hills of Kashmir to the coasts of Kanyakumari—for India’s first coffee-table book, shot entirely on a smartphone.
Sharing his experience of using the GioneeE8, the veteran photographer says: “It’s quick, everything comes into sharp focus and it’s always ready to shoot.”
Titled India Through the Eyes of Raghu Rai, the coffee-table book has a bit of everything, from depth in black & white shots to fascinating panoramic views.
