In yet another symbiotic relationship, Snapdeal and Shoppers Stop will work together with the department store chain becoming an anchor store on the e-commerce website as also the mobile site, reports fe Bureau in Mumbai.

Currently, less than 1% of the brick-and-mortar retailer’s sales — Rs 4,481 crore in FY15 — is earned online and it plans to invest Rs 60 crore to build an omni-channel network in the next three years.

Shoppers Stop will start selling on Snapdeal by Diwali. With online shopping becoming increasingly popular as e-retailers continue to offer attractive discounts, brick-and-mortar retailers have been forced to find an online presence.

They have also been compelled to hold sales for longer periods to tempt customers and offer discounts. However, with margins getting hit, the industry has decided to reduce the sale period by two weeks this year to six weeks.
