Reliance Power up 4 percent after profit jumps in December quarter

Reliance Power’s scrip today rose 4 per cent after the company posted a 38 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit for the December quarter.

Shares of the company went up 3.80 per cent to settle at Rs 50.50 on BSE. During the day, it climbed 6 per cent to Rs 51.60.

On NSE, the stock gained 4 per cent to end at Rs 50.65.

In terms of volume, 23.71 lakh shares of the company changed hands at BSE and over 1 crore at NSE during the day.

Reliance Power today posted a 38 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 351.81 crore for the December quarter, riding on a two-fold increase in electricity generation.

The company’s consolidated net profit after tax, minority interest and share of profit of associates stood at Rs 351.81 crore for the quarter as against Rs 254.44 crore in the same period a year ago, Reliance Power said in a BSE filing today.

Total (consolidated) income has increased to Rs 2,665.68 crore in the December quarter, from Rs 1,826.57 crore in the previous financial year.

The consolidated net profit in April-December this fiscal stood at Rs 1,041.79 crore compared with Rs 751.86 crore a year ago.
