Mukesh Ambani is likely to announce on September 1, that Jio's full scale pan-India commercial launch will happen in December.
Heating up the telecom war further, Mukesh Ambani Chairman of Reliance Industries may announce the final launch date for Reliance Jio in the company’s AGM (Annual General Meeting). According to ET Now, Ambani is likely to announce on September 1, that Jio’s full scale pan-India commercial launch will happen in December. Ambani is also expected to announce the tariffs for existing customers. His announcement on tariffs may finally educe tension between Reliance Jio and other GSM telcos. Reliance Jio will file a tariff plan with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) soon, the channel reported.
Reliance Jio on Monday shot a letter to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), accusing it of breach of trust following the operators’ lobby writing to the Prime Minister’s Office for intervention on the issue of its test launch. In a strongly-worded letter — in which Reliance has conveyed directly that it reserves the right to seek a legal recourse against COAI and others —said it protests against the telecom lobby’s “gross and serious acts of breach of trust, fraudulent conduct, and gross misrepresentation of facts with wilful and deliberate intent to malign and damage the interests of Reliance Jio”.
“Be that as it may, the contents of the attachment are devoid of any merits and contains deliberate misstatements constituting misrepresentation of actual facts and are defamatory in nature,” Reliance Jio wrote to COAI. The firm has raised the issue that it had not been consulted with despite being a member of the body. Moreover, it also pointed out that the incumbents are violating licensing conditions with regard to providing interconnection, and mobile number portability.
