State-run telecom service provider MTNL said it will offer 2GB of 3G data per day and unlimited calling within its network for Rs 319 from April 1. “On its 31st anniversary, MTNL announces new plan from April 1, 2017 that offers 2 GB of 3G data per day and unlimited calling within MTNL network for Rs 319 for Delhi and Mumbai mobile customers,” the company said in a statement. The validity of the plan is for for 28 days after which MTNL customers will have to recharge with same value for continue availing the benefits. “This promotional offer is valid for 90 days. MTNL customers will also get 25 minutes of free call to other networks everyday and after that they will be charged 25 paise for a minute phone call,” the statement said.
After Reliance Jio has entered the market with low tariff offers starting from April 1, all telecom operators in the country are trying to match its level. A similar offer from Reliance Jio, is where customers can avail a special scheme that will offer 1GB of 4G data everyday and unlimited calling throughout the country for Rs 303 a month. MTNL recently also installed 1800 more mobile towers by investing around Rs 400 crore to improve coverage and data speeds for its subscribers, PTI reported.
BSNL launched an offer in March with competing prices with Reliance Jio, where it provides 2GB of 3G data for Rs 339 a month. It was when Reliance was offering 1 GB of 4G data and unlimited calling to all networks for free till March 31. The idea is to improve user base of the state-owned companies as well. Free offers have been able to poach millions of buyers for Jio.
