The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Thursday reserved the order on the petition of Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular, alleging that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) had erred in allowing Reliance Jio with regard to its promotional offer. The interim relief seeks a stay on the order by Trai clearing Jio’s Welcome Offer and the Happy New Year (HNY) Offer. It also seeks a stay on the HNY Offer, which will end on March 31, 2017.Bharti and Idea had moved the TDSAT against Trai for allowing Jio to continue with its free promotional offers beyond the stipulated period of 90 days. Airtel moved TDSAT in December 2016 and Idea followed a month later.

Vodafone India moved the Delhi High Court alleging that Trai was acting as a mute spectator to Jio’s violations of regulatory guidelines and interconnect user charge-related tariff norms.
