Reliance Jio 4G launch: In a big-bang launch for Reliance Jio, Mukesh Ambani at the 42nd RIL AGM announced that all voice calls for Jio customers will be free. “The era of paying for voice calls is sending,” Ambani said. He also said that no roaming charges will be applicable for Jio customers across India. “Jio makes India the highest quality and lowest data price market in the world,” he said while announcing data rates. “With Reliance Jio, you will pay only Rs 50 for every GB that you use. The more data you use, the lower the rate,” he said. “I believe these are the absolute lowest data rates anywhere in the world,” Ambani added.
Announcing the launch tariffs, Ambani said, we have a plethora of plans. “We start from Rs 19 per day data plan for the occasional data user. Then there is a Rs 149 monthly plan for the light data user. The data plan for the heaviest user goes up to Rs 4,999 per month,” he said. “We have provided the lowest LTE data rates in the world,” he added. Ambani went on to say that Jio is also rolling out many wi-fi hotspots across the country. “By the middle of the next year, we will have 1 million wi-fi hotspots across India,” he promised.
There are seven variants of plans (all of them valid for 28 days); starting from Rs 149 to Rs 4,999. All seven of them offer free unlimited voice calls (local and STD), with free roaming to any network in the country. Similarly all of them provide access to the Jio Apps Subscription worth Rs 1,250. Unlimited SMSes also form part of all packs except for the Rs 149 data pack, in which the customer can send 100 free messages.
Coming to the most crucial part – the 4G data usage limit; here are the details: 0.3 GB for Rs 149; 4GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 499; 10GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 999; 20 GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 1,499; 35GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 2,499; 60GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 3,999; 75GB + unlimited 4G at night for Rs 4,999.
