Heating up the telecom war further, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications has announced a 300 minutes offer for 4G app-to-app calling for a meagre amount of Re 1. This offer has been introduced in Delhi and NCR, and is valid for a period of 30 days. Reliance says that the move is aimed at addressing the issue of call drops. In line with that, the offer has even been named “Call Drops Se Chutkaara”, which means freedom from call drops.

With this we want to make sure that there are no call drops for our customers using 4G LTE network, Reliance Communications has said. Commenting on the offer Gurdeep Singh, the CEO of consumer business ar Reliance Communications has said, “We want Delhi to speak on data.” “Delhi-NCR will get an India-first offer of 300 minutes of app-to-app talking. This will be valid for 30 days at just Re 1 — 10 minutes a day for 30 days,” Singh is reported to have said.

Reliance Communications’ offer comes a day after Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel slashed 4G and 3G mobile internet charges by up to 80%. With this rates have come down to as low as Rs 51 per gigabyte (GB) under the special scheme. To avail this benefit, Airtel customers will have to recharge with Rs 1,498 against which they will get 1GB of 4G or 3G mobile internet usage valid for 28 days, the company said in a statement.

Players like Airtel and Idea have upped the ante in mobile data pricing ahead of the upcoming commercial launch by Reliance Jio. The company had said it has over 1.5 million test users on its network. Reliance Jio, which is gearing up to launch its 4G services, had also said during the recently-concluded quarter, it extended its trial services to all LYF devices users under the Jio LYF Preview Offer.
