Tata Sons chairman emeritus Ratan Tata has invested an undisclosed amount in a specialty tea company Teabox.

Tata Sons chairman emeritus Ratan Tata has invested an undisclosed amount in a specialty tea company Teabox.

The investment will help in continuing its growth as it expands in other major markets around the world.

Teabox sources premium teas directly from the plantations in Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri and Nepal, and ships them to customers all over the world. It does not operate through a delivery fleet of its own but has tied up with third -party courier services such as Blue Dart Express, DHL, FedEx, and Overnite Express, among others.

The company has delivered over 30 million cups of tea in over 93 countries in three years. Teabox has a backing from investors such as JAFCO Asia, Accel Partners, Keystone Group LP and Dragoneer Investment Group.
