Soon after reaching the 500-screen mark in the country, multiplex major PVR on Sunday launched Superplex, a premium concept that will house 15 movie screens in one multiplex.
Located at the Logix City Centre in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Superplex is the latest addition to PVR’s wide array of cinema concepts, which includes PVR Heritage, PVR Premier, PVR IMAX, PVR Director’s Cut, PVR Gold Class, PVR Premiere and PVR Icon.
Movie buffs could be spoilt for choice as Superplex will offer five different cinema formats, which include IMAX, Gold Class, Premiere, 4DX and Playhouse.
“At PVR Superplex, moviegoers will get a variety of films. It will especially show movies that are old and have been on the screen for six to eight weeks. Such movies will be kept showing at PVR Superplex. That was the idea behind getting 15 screens under one roof,” said Ajay Bijli, chairman and managing director, PVR.
One of the most interesting formats that caught the eye was Playhouse, a movie experience for kids with special seats and cartoon characters on the walls inside the auditorium. 4DX aims to give moviegoers an immersive experience with high-tech motion seats and special effects like wind, fog, water among others.
“Superplex is the perfect solution to the ‘will I get a ticket’ syndrome… We are looking to cater to the movie buff who is adventurous enough to absorb and consume various formats. Every viewing experience at PVR Superplex will be different, be it Playhouse, IMAX or 4DX,” said Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, joint managing director, PVR.
Ticket prices at PVR Superplex will start from R150 and go up to R1,000, he added.
