Professor Pulak Ghosh from the Quantitative Management Information Systems (QMIS) area at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), has been selected as one of the two joint winners to be awarded the National Biennial award 2015 for outstanding contribution to the field of Statistics to Indians below 45 years.
Accorded by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt of India – National Biennial award is the ‘Award for Outstanding and Meritorious Research work in Statistics’ in the Honour of Prof. C.R. Rao. The award is awarded to eminent people for their outstanding contributions made towards the development of official and applied statistics.
Professor Pulak Ghosh will receive the prestigious award at a special function organized at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 29th June. At the award ceremony Professor Ghosh will deliver a keynote address amongst the present dignitaries, subject-matter experts and eminent personalities.
Professor Pulak Ghosh is the only Indian academician to have been featured in Analytics India Magazine’s Top 10 Most Influential Analytics Leaders 2015. https://www.iimb.ernet.in/node/6076. He also serves in the Big data advisory group of United Nations, academic fellow of CFRAL-RBI, and advisor to the knowledge commission of UNESCO-MGEIP. He has published more than 50 articles in journal of International repute and has been in the editorial board of the prestigious Journals like Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: series A and Journal of the American Statistical Association.
Besides being an accomplished researcher of international repute, Professor Pulak Ghosh forte are in legion fields like Quantitative Marketing, Big Data, Analytics, Bayesian Nonparametric, Health Analytics, and Econometrics. He has also been bestowed with many other awards contributing to the Analytics and category by participating in various panel discussions and seminars as a key-note speaker.
