Ola in partnership with World Resource Institute, which works towards low-carbon emission in many countries. Ola had launched the ‘share’ feature in October last year. The feature reportedly has helped in reducing almost 5000 tonnes of CO2, and also saved more than 2 million litres of petrol and diesel.

According to reports posted by Ola, as of now Delhi is in lead to the race of maximum reduction of carbon emission. Though Bengaluru and Mumbai are quite close. This drive started on August 3, and Ola has put up billboards in prominent locations. These billboards read out the amount of CO2 emission in the cities.

Raghuvesh Sarup, Chief Marketing Officer at Ola, had said during the launch of the drive, “Shared mobility is the new paradigm for sustainable transportation. With Ola’s ‘#DoYourShare’ campaign, our goal is to help cities reduce on-road congestion and unhealthy traffic jams, by encouraging more and more commuters to opt for Ola Share.”

When a car is being driven on the road, its engine burns fuel and emits CO2, and the amount depends on the consumption of the fuel and how much the car is driven. This is known as Carbon footprint, and it affects the environment.
