Online cab aggregator Ola has appointed Harish Abhichandani, a former eKart executive as its chief financial officer, filling the position vacated by Rajiv Bansal in February 2017. Abhichandani had held a similar position in Tata Teleservices before moving to eKart, the logistics arm of Flipkart. He has also worked for the Oman-based Omar Zawawi Establishment. Pallav Singh, Ola’s head of operations was acting as the interim CFO after Rajiv Bansal’s departure. Bansal who had joined Ola from Infosys in October 2016 moved out of the company within six months of taking up this position.
Bansal’s departure from Ola coincided with a controversy which had broken out in his former company Infosys, over his severance package. The severance pay stood at Rs 17.38 crore. Bansal had been with Infosys for 17 years and held the role as CFO for four years. Bansal is now fighting the matter in court.
Ola had recently raised $36 million from New York based hedge fund Tekne Capital. Before that in May 2017, the company raised $104.4 million in a fresh round of funding from Falcon Edge Capital and Ratan Tata’s RNT Capital Advisers.
