Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Tuesday allowed a tariff hike across the board.
Announcing a tariff order for 2015-16, the OERC raised rate for domestic consumers by 20 paise per unit. Revising the rates for farm sector for the first time in 15 years, the regulator has increased the tariff by 40 paise per unit.
In comparison to FY15, there has been a hike of 4.64% in the average retail supply tariff.
“The commission had to raise tariff due to a steep rise in coal prices and the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) directive to increase tariff,” said OERC secretary GK Dhal.
