The finance ministry has clarified that income tax demands raised on Nokia India for assessment year 2010-11 in August 2015 were based on issues arising from earlier orders and that it was being resolved under the India-Finland Tax Treaty.

The resolution is being attempted by the competent tax authorities in both countries under the Mutual Agreement Procedure, Central Board of Direct Taxes stated.

The ministry didn’t specify the amount demanded. The depart-ment said there were no new tax notices to Nokia India.
