Enthused by the huge demand for its new GLA SUV — with wait-listed customers across India — Mercedes Benz India on Thursday rolled out the compact luxury SUV, much ahead of the original plan.
“The car was launched in September 2014 and was prebooked. Normally, there is a lot of interest around a new car and, then, the demand gets normalised, but in case of GLA, the demand continues to sustain and has, in fact, accelerated. So, we preponed its localisation,” said Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The GLA now accounts for more than 40% of the new-generation car sales at Mercedes-Benz.
