Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashutosh on Saturday said that the episode of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia using their office and positions to facilitate the release of travel documents to graft accused and former IPL czar Lalit Modi has exposed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) true face.
“This episode of Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Sushma Swaraj has exposed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) true face. Before elections, (Prime Minister) Modi used to say ‘bahut hua bhrashtachar ki char abki baar modi sarkaar’, now everybody has seen that for them fight against corruption was just a political issue, just an election issue,” Ashutosh told ANI here.
“After winning elections, they have forgotten it. Not that they had some commitment, they knew and everybody knows that they have no commitment to fight corruption. I am glad that their true faces are now exposed,” he added.
He said the fight against corruption was just an election issue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his NDA Government.
Ashutosh further said that the Congress Party and the ruling BJP are two sides of the same coin.
“Congress and BJP are two sides of the same coin. When the Congress ran a government, it was the most corrupt government since independence. And now, they are pretending to fight against corruption. They will also stall Parliament. Even the BJP did the same thing when they were in a position. So the fact is neither BJP nor the Congress want to fight corruption. It is these two political parties which have made India one of the most corrupt countries in the world. It is high time people reject both these political parties. If we believe that India should be corruption free then these two political parties have to be dumped into the dustbin,” said Ashutosh.
The BJP has rejected opposition demand for resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over their role in helping tainted former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi.
Briefing the media in New Delhi on Friday, party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said: “Sushma Swaraj has already clarified that her help in British travel documents case was on humanitarian grounds.”
As for Vasundhara Raje, Trivedi said: “She has given clarifications that she had family relations with Lalit Modi but the credibility of documents, which are being shown against her, is yet to be verified.”
Continuing its offensive against Swaraj and Raje, the Congress Party has said that the only way for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save his government and the Monsoon session of Parliament is the resignation of both these ministers from his Cabinet.
