The airline offers to give passengers a 30 per cent discount on economy fares and 20 per cent on premiere fares. The special offer is available on both one-way and returns tickets. Passengers can book tickets during the sale for domestic flights from September 05 onwards and for international flights from September 15.
Chief Commercial Officer of Jet Airways, Jayaraj Shanmugam said, “India’s Independence Day is a special occasion that is celebrated in multiple hues by Indians all around the world. This Independence Day fare sale is our way of making this day more memorable. These special travel offers are another occasion for us to give wings to the aspirations of the global traveler.”
The discounts would only be applicable on base fare.
Meanwhile, after waiting for over two months, Jet Airways on Wednesday, received security clearance of the government for the appointment of Vinay Dube as chief executive officer. An Indian- American, Dube’s appointment was approved by the airline’s board of directors on May 30. Jet Airways has been without a full-time CEO since Cramer Ball quit in February 2016.
The civil aviation ministry, through a letter today, “granted security clearance for the appointment of Vinay Dube as the CEO of the company,” Jet Airways said in a filing to stock exchanges. Consequently, Amit Agarwal has ceased to be acting CEO of the company, the filing added. Since the exit of Ball last year, there have been two acting CEOs — Gaurang Shetty and Amit Agarwal. Prior to this appointment, Dube was senior vice-president (Asia Pacific) at Delta Air Lines and was associated with the US-based carrier since 2007.
