Infosys CEO and MD Vishal Sikka has resigned and has been replaced by U B Pravin Rao, who has been appointed as the Interim-Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company. After his resignation, Sikka has been appointed as the Executive Vice-Chairman of Infosys. After the news was made public, the former Infosys CEO turned to Twitter and shared a post saying, “Moving on…”. Along with the post, Sikka provided the link of his personal blog where he shared his farewell note that was addressed to all Infosys employees. In the letter, Sikka described his journey in the company and his experience with the people he worked with. That life was not really rosy is clear from the fact that Sikka found it necessary to point out his views on RESPECT, TRUST and even EMPOWERMENT in the organisation, at least as far as he was concerned and he highlighted his need to move to a place where such a situation did not exist.
While talking about his life after the resignation, Sikka in his letter wrote, “It is clear to me that despite our successes over the last three years, and the powerful seeds of innovation that we have sown, I cannot carry out my job as CEO and continue to create value, while also constantly defending against unrelenting, baseless/malicious and increasingly personal attacks.” He added, “I now need to move forward, and return to an environment of respect, trust and empowerment.”
After accepting the resignation by Vishal Sikka, Infosys released a press statement where they said, “The Board understands and acknowledges Dr. Sikka’s reasons for resignation, and regrets his decision. In particular, the Board is profoundly distressed by the unfounded personal attacks on the members of our management team that were made in the anonymous letters and have surfaced in recent months.” It added, “The Board denounces the critics who have amplified and sought to further promote demonstrably false allegations which have harmed employee morale and contributed to the loss of the Company’s valued CEO.”
