‘I am not a morning person’: Gunjan Soni, Head — Jabong

I am in love with my job. It doesn’t even feel like a job! It’s rare to find an opportunity where you are in an industry that’s at an inflection point and therefore, no set rules apply. I love the speed, the ability to shape consumer behaviour and habits, and being at the cutting edge of tech innovations.

The Job

I am in love with my job. It doesn’t even feel like a job! It’s rare to find an opportunity where you are in an industry that’s at an inflection point and therefore, no set rules apply. I love the speed, the ability to shape consumer behaviour and habits, and being at the cutting edge of tech innovations. The correct blend of left and right brain is required, given we leverage fashion and tech to shape everything we do. The one thing I dislike is the weekly travel I need to do, which can be very tiring. Phew!

The Weekdays

A typical weekday starts with light yoga. Work starts with a morning call with the team to discuss the previous day’s performance and the current day plan. Daily, the team tries to bring some new ideas to experiment with. Another favourite part of my week is the customer escalation meeting we do where we hear customer calls and try to improve our processes based on feedback. It’s also gratifying to hear the positive stories of satisfied customers! I am not a morning person so the day finishes late. I end the day by unwinding with a book.

The Weekend

I like to start the day with walking with my husband and my dog Jenny. Most of the day is split between binge watching of series and catching up with friends. I like to paint, solve puzzles and Sudoku as it helps me relax. Night time is again for books! I read a wide variety from sci-fi, fantasy to spiritual. Currently, I am reading Autobiography of a Yogi.

The Toys

My iPhone, which stays with me every waking minute. Alexa is the new toy that I am enjoying — testing her patience and AI with all kind of requests!

The Logos

Dorothy Perkins, Next, Aldo, SuperDry, AAY (All About You) and Sangria, and Tumi for office bags.
