GMR wins financial bid for Mopa airport

The construction of the Mopa international airport under the PPP model will finally see the light of day with GMR Infrastructure winning the financial bid on Friday by offering the highest revenue share at 36.99% to the state.

Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), announced as part of the new civil aviation policy, various financial incentives would be extended to airlines that would fly to unserved and underserved areas (Reuters)The construction cost of the second airport in Goa is pegged at R3,000 crore with the winning bidder given a period of six months to raise finances for the project. The construction of the Mopa international airport under the PPP model will finally see the light of day with GMR Infrastructure winning the financial bid on Friday by offering the highest revenue share at 36.99% to the state.

The construction cost of the second airport in Goa is pegged at R3,000 crore with the winning bidder given a period of six months to raise finances for the project.

Essel Infra Mumbai and Airport Authority of India were the two other bidders who participated in the financial bid.

Sources in the DGCA, government of Goa said that PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new airport by October.
