Bullish on Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, Big Bazaar would open four new stores in Punjab at Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala at Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir state and Yamuna Nagar in Haryana during the current fiscal.

Sree Kishan Honale of Future Retail told media persons here that “Future Group was founded on a simple idea, rewrite rules, retain values to create a new kind of transformed marketplace and as a result country’s largest modern retailer is set to break all records. It is now present across more than 100 cities in India. He said that Punjab was among the top states in per capita spending while Haryana ranked among the top in per capita income. The Big Bazar had devised its expansion strategy on that count. Big Bazaar would also open a store at Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir State shortly to tap the untapped state.”

Honale said that shopping days which were created by Big Bazaar like “Sabse Saste Din”, “Maha Bachat”, “Wednesday Bazaar”, and “Monthly Bazaar”, have now become an industry norm, he said. To celebrate the 100 city milestone, Big Bazaar has started “100 cities Celebration” which would go on till January 15, 2015 at all Big Bazaar outlets. “100 cities Celebration” offers up to 50% off in various product categories – like kitchenware, home furnishings, fashion apparels, electronics and many more categories.

He said that Big Bazaar’s Rourkela store in Orissa is the latest entrant in the market making the retail chain hit the 100th goal. Now, Big Bazaar reaches out to every consumer’s home from Agartala in East to Bhuj in West, from Zirakpur in North to Palakkad in South. Within the span of last 3 months, Big Bazaar opened 17 new stores across the country, adding cities like Jharsuguda, Bhopal, Varanasi, Bokaro etc. in its kitty”.

About future plans, Honale said that in next three years, the number of Big Bazaars across the country would go up to 200 and number of cities covered upto 150.
