Following its recall of over 15,400 units of EcoSport in November last year, Ford India has on Friday officially announced the recall of its latest models of Ford Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles to correct a software issue.

In a communication issued on Friday, it said: “Ford India is proactively issuing a voluntary safety recall for approximately 42,300 Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles, built at the Sanand plant since launch until April 12, 2016, to correct a software issue with the Restraint Control Module (RCM).”

The affected vehicles may contain a software error, which could result in the airbags not deploying in certain collisions in which they are intended to deploy.

Figo and Figo Aspire customers will have a software upgrade carried out free of charge through their Ford dealership.
