Leading online marketplace Flipkart has said that its app installation on Google Play Store has crossed 50 million during the first week of February and claimed it is first such Indian company to achieve this mark.
According to a release by the company, the app is also the highest rated Indian shopping app on Google Play Store with Android phones being the most dominant operating system in smartphones with over 85% of the total smartphone base in India.
Flipkart recently had gone back on its app only strategy. Last year it made Myntra, its fashion unit, into an app-only company, killing its mobile as well as desktop properties. However, later it re-launched Myntra’s mobile website, claiming to be a light version where users can have limited access to services.
