With more and more people in different age groups buying fitness products and air purifiers, Delhi has emerged the most health conscious city in India followed by Bengaluru and Mumbai, says a report by Flipkart.
Rapid increase in pollution levels, long work hours and stressed work-life balance have opened up a whole new market for health and fitness products, Flipkart said in a report.
In the last six months, health and fitness category have witnessed two times growth, it added.
“With chart topping demand numbers for air purifiers and fitness bands, Delhi has been identified as India’s most health conscious city followed by Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai,” Flipkart said.
The report found fitness bands to be the most popular between the age group 20-35 years, while air purifiers are a big hit amongst the 35-50 year olds.
“Indians are proactively taking preventive measures in their everyday lives to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. In the last six months, there has been a huge spike in the average daily sales of health and fitness products,” it said.
Other products such as advanced water purifiers, air fryers, glucometer, BP monitor and weighing scales have also emerged as popular products.
BP monitors and glucometers have witnessed 1.5 times growth and is popular among the 35-50 year olds.
Weighing scales and juicers have also witnessed a significant rise in demand, the report added.
