Engineering and Capital goods: FY19 saw muted growth in new orders

Assuance of tenders and new orders in the engineering-and-capital-goods space remained muted in FY19. Total value of tenders invited declined 3% to Rs 8.9 lakh crore against a year ago, even as the number of tenders grew 5%.

The value of orders finalised in the year reported a growth of mere 1.7% at Rs 4.12 lakh crore, while the number of orders finalised was down 23% to 5,834.
