Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation (DFPCL) is investing R550 crore in setting up a greenfield project in Dahej, Gujarat, to expand its nitric acid capacities. The project is scheduled to be completed by second half of 2018.
DFPCL is a manufacturer of fertilizers and chemicals. The company has a manufacturing facility in Taloja, Maharashtra and manufactures three variants of nitric acid which include dilute nitric acid, concentrated nitric acid and strong nitric acid.
The current capacity is close to 8,40,000 MTPA, most of which is used for captive consumption with only around 160,000 MTPA available for merchant sale.
With the increased capacity, the company will be able to provide an incremental 1,48,000 MTPA, the company said.
“We are largest manufacturers of Nitric Acid in India and this new facility will be the first step towards the development of a mega multi products site at Dahej which would cater to the demand of many intermediates,” Sailesh Mehta, CMD DFPCL said.
“We cater to nitro-aromatics, dyes, defense, agrochemicals and pharma sectors which are growing rapidly. Some of our key customers have already announced their expansion plans and thus we are expecting a rise in demand for nitric acid. We are aligning our expansion plans with those of our customers, so as to cater to their demands”, Paresh Trivedi, president chemicals business of DFPCL, said.
