Via.com, Asia’s largest travel network, started its festive sale on flights, hotels and holidays on a high note by creating a major buzz in social media and witnessing an unprecedented increase in bookings.
On the first day, Via.com saw a 5x increase in flight bookings, 120% increase in hotel bookings and 10x increase in holiday queries. The site also saw triple the number of traffic compared to usual days. As per Company’s internal sources, customers saved more than 5 million rupees on the first day through different bookings. Several customers utilized the sale to save more than Rs. 50, 000 on a single booking.
As part of the festive sale from September 23rd to 25th, Via.com is offering up to Rs. 20,000 off on holiday packages, up to Rs. 2000 off on flight tickets and up to 70% off on hotel bookings.
Speaking about the event, CEO of Via.com, Mr. Swaminathan Vedaranyam said “The objective of the sale was to give our customers a chance to make significant savings on their travel plans ahead of the festive season. On day one, our biggest success is that we have gained the trust of lakhs of new users by delivering a superlative and glitch-free booking experience”.
Via.com extensively promoted the festive sale in Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. The official hashtag #VIAFESTIVAL created quite a stir in Twitter and Facebook – it was shared and re-tweeted more than 30,000 times in Twitter and generated 10000+ likes and comments in Via.com’s Facebook page. As part of the contest, Via.com is giving away 3 flight tickets (1 each day) and a holiday to Dubai for a couple.
On the first day of the festive sale, Goa lived up to its tag as India’s favourite holiday destination. The Goa package with airfare for Rs. 4499 was the most popular and highest booked product on the opening day. A Via.com customer, Ashish Gupta, who frequently holidays in Goa, said “The 4 day Goa package with airfare for Rs. 4499 was an unbelievable offer. I would normally be paying the same amount just for my stay”.
The festive sale picked up major traction in Via.com’s Android app, and its recently launched iOS app. On the first day of sale, Via android app was downloaded more than 80,000 times and Via iOS app experienced a 10x spike in installations as well. The number of bookings on Via.com app increased by 120%.
