Darjeeling landslide: Centre will have to work with state, says Kiren Rijiju

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, who is in West Bengal to take a stock of the landslide affected areas, on Wednesday, said the Central Government will have to work with the state government.

“Our priority is to make best rescue operation. We will do whatever is necessary. We have to work with the State Government,” Rijiju told ANI.

“The Prime Minister has announced Rs two lakh for the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those who have been injured. That is from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund,” he added.

At least 28 people were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Darjeeling’s Mirik and Kalimpong areas.
