A special court has set April 9 as the verdict date in the multi-crore accounting fraud case related to Satyam Computer Services (SCSL), citing voluminous documentation and the ongoing agitation by Telangana advocates.
Special Judge BVLN Chakravarthi said, “On April 9, the judgement will be pronounced. I am making it very clear.” Citing voluminous documents in the case, the judge said, “It is the mandate of the Supreme Court that the judgement has to be pronounced. If any obstruction is caused, it will be contempt of court. It is your (accused) duty to bring your advocates. The court will go ahead with its proceedings,” he said on Monday.
The judge’s observation came as defence counsels were not present in the court because of the ongoing agitation of Telangana advocates, who have been boycotting courts demanding separate a high court for the new state. “April 9 will be the final date for the verdict. No question of further adjournments. Court will not wait,” the Judge said.
