Online cab-hailing company Uber has introduced a new ride option for its users in India called ‘Premier’. The option is currently in beta testing phase and is available for users in Mumbai and Pune only. Under this service, the company will offer riders Premier as an in-app product option that serves as an upgrade to their old UberX experience. Commenting on the same, Shailesh Sawlani, General Manager, Uber India-West, said, “Uber is focused on building products that will go further in replacing the need for personal mobility options.”
According to IANS report, this option will offer rides in economy-range sedans and customers will be extended enhanced customer support for better post-ride experience. However, there has been no update on when the new service will be extended to other cities. Uber has not even spelled out on what basis riders will be selected for the premier service, but presumably they will be frequent users.
Here’s the list of features Uber’s Premier feature will have:
i. Comfortable and luxurious economy-range sedans. However, the company has not clarified on which cars riders will get.
ii. Select drivers who have completed 1000+ lifetime trips and acknowledged by riders via the Driver Compliments feature and ratings will get the Premier services.
iii. Uber will also provide an ‘Enhanced customer support’ after a ride.
iv. Uber says that Premier rides will be available at UberX fares in Mumbai and Pune.
v. The company says that over 40 per cent of these Premier trips will have shorter pickup time than the predicted arrival time.
With its new feature, the online cab aggregator believes that across all relevant markets, Premier will complement the current options that it gives in the country including uberMOTO, uberPOOL, uberGO and uberX ride.
