The Indian Meteorological Department will put up a provisional forecast for the course of the southwest monsoon this week, which should provide a better picture of food  inflation. A report by Deutsche Bank says CPI would be about 5% in the April-June quarter, in line to meet the RBI’s projection of 4.1% by August and 5.8% by December 2015. This would give enough headroom to RBI to cut rates in the June and August monetary policy reviews. Even with rate cuts, real interest rates are likely to be higher in 2015 and 2016 compared with the previous years.
