Delhi power tariff reduced: What it means for you

Delhi Power tariff, electricity bill, Power tariff cut, AAPThe electricity will be available to consumers in Delhi using 400 units or less at half the charge.

The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has slashed power tariff by half and ordered supply of free water, in prompt fulfilment of two of the party’s key election promises. The electricity will be available to consumers using 400 units or less at half the charge and the new rates will start on March 1.

Here’s what it means for the consumers:


If you consume exactly 200 units, then the new tariff will be:

Without subsidy: Rs 907.20
With existing subsidy: Rs 648
With new subsidy: Rs 475.20

If you consume 400 units:

Without subsidy: Rs 2,192.40
With existing subsidy: Rs 2,019.6
With new subsidy: Rs 1,116.72

Note: The calculation is for a consumer having a load of 2 KW. This tariff  also includes surcharge and other charges/The new subsidy is effective from March 1
