Safari Storme is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes packed with an array of updates inside out. Tata Safari Storme has been given delicate tweaks in its 2.2 litre VARICOR engine this time. Let’s look at the Safari Storme stunner in detail:
On the outside, Safari Storme has been revised to match looks with premium international SUVs. The presence of new honeycombed grille in Charcoal Grey and Ocean Grey (variant- wise) gives the resemblance of Tata owned Land Rover Marque. In addition to this, a fresh diamond logo with Storme in black on the silver armour of vehicle offers premium Tata feel. Apart from this, the roof rails and projector head-lamps with PES (Poly Ellipsoid System) Rings can also be seen on new Storme.
Similar to the exteriors, interiors in the new Tata Safari Storme also have received an extensive makeover. The car gets Java black theme with silver twangs on door handles and dashboard. You can also see different contrast mending on seats that would certainly give a new look inside the cabin. Coming to the new features incorporated in 2015 Storme, the vehicle sports a Harman powered new infotainment system featuring an LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity, iPod, USB and AUX-in, along with CD/AM-FM playback. Moreover, six speakers and steering mounted audio controls are also provided in the SUV. Additionally, the car has been offered with multifunctional steering wheel and Dual air-conditioning with rear AC vents for the all-round cooling. On the top VX trims, there can be seen standard parking sensors with graphical screen on the ConnectNext audio system.
The new Safari Storme will carry the same engine as available in outgoing model but the motor has been tweaked a little to enhance its power delivery. The 2.2-litre VARICOR mill in Safari Storme now gives 10 PS more power than its ancestor at 150 PS and offers 320 Nm of maximum torque at 1700-2700 rpm. As far as transmission is concerned, the motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox to transmit power to wheels in both 2WD and 4WD mode. According to the company statement, 2015 Storme is a polished model and can attain 100 kmph speed in 14 seconds. In terms of mileage, Safari Storme facelift is now competent to deliver ARAI certified 14.1 kmpl fuel figures. Furthermore, company has also enhanced the fuel tank capacity of the new SUV to 63 litres now.
Passengers’ safety too has been addressed in the Safari Storme and the SUV comes packed with dual airbags for the top end VX variants besides ABS with EBD and Ultrasonic reverse parking sensors. Moving to the pricing of 2015 Storme, the car gets price tag of Rs. 9.99 lakh for LX variant, Rs. 11.60 lakh for EX variant, Rs 13.02 lakh for VX (4X2) trim and Rs 14.39 lakh for top VX (4X4) variant.
Speaking on the launch of new Safari Storme, Girish Wagh, Sr. Vice President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, stated that country’s first SUV, the Tata Safari, has evolved over time and varied needs of customers and has been continuously inspiring the buyers to think big. The Safari Storme is built on Tata’s HORIZONEXT strategy with more energy and connectivity added to the vehicle. While new design elements in facelift add vigour and audacity to the car, the integrated connectivity in the SUV is all set to offer an entire new vehicle experience, said Girish.
