Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate EV-EXPO 2015: First international electric vehicle Expo in India

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, will inaugurate EVEXPO 2015 – the first ever electric vehicle show in the country – on December 24 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

“This first EV-Expo 2015 holds special significance particularly because this Expo is the first ever concerted effort put together after the passing of Motor Vehicles (Amendment Bill, 2015) bringing E-Carts & E-Rickshaws under the ambit of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 specially at a time when govt is all out to promote E-Rickshaws & E-Carts to provide “End mile connectivity and ‘environment friendly’ transport solutions in order to boost passenger safety, convenience and in making India a pollution free country.” Rajiv Arora, Founder Member Electric Rickshaw Manufacturers Association & Organizer EV-Expo”

“Equally important is the fact that the Expo is in line with Govt.’s objective to convert 10% of 2/3/4 wheeler vehicles plying on the Indian roads into Hybrid/ E-Vehicles which makes E-Rickshaws & E-Carts hold special significance in creating a pollution free environment.” Added Mr Rajiv Arora.

To be held between December 24 – December 27, 2015, the electric vehicle show will showcase the latest technological advancements in environment friendly vehicle, component, services and products for the transportation of passengers and goods. Organisers are expecting participation from over 100 E-vehicle companies from across the globe. The Expo will also witness over 500 business delegations from China, Germany, Japan, Sweden and other countries.

Of all the participants, China has the highest number with 22 Chinese companies exhibiting their E-Vehicle products. China will also send over 500 ministerial & business delegation headed by the country mayor Shan Chanfeng.

“EVEXPO-2015 promises to be a significant platform to create an imp ecosystem, explore and understand the technical, policy, market opportunities and challenges for the exhibitors, buyers, global leaders, opinion makers, Govt(s), media and raise awareness about green transportation, electric vehicles, battery rickshaws, E- carts, batteries, motors, components and accessories etc ,” said Anuj Sharma, Chairman, E-Rickshaw Committee, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
