The all-new Toyota Innova (2016) has been finally launched in Indonesia at a starting price of IDR 282 million, while India is still waiting for its arrival. With this, Indonesia has become the first market to receive the new-generation model of the MPV. As reported earlier, the company is planning to unveil the new Toyota Innova at the upcoming 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February followed by its launch sometime by the end of the same year.
For people not in the know, the new-generation Toyota Innova is built on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform which is the same that will underpin the new-generation Fortuner. The new platform is lighter yet stiffer than the old platform.

Though the vehicle receives an entirely new design, most significant updates have been given upfront. The front fascia of the all-new Toyota Innova gets an all hexagonal grille which is bigger in size and comes with dual chrome slats, newly designed bumper, all-new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, and fog lamps. The vehicle’s side profile gets a redesigned last row glass area, all-new wheel arches, new alloy wheels and chromed window line. The vehicle’s rear profile also looks quite different with the vertical tail-lamps and all-new bumper. With all the aforementioned changes, the new-generation Toyota Innova 2016 looks edgier than the current-gen model.
The vehicle’s interior have also become more up-market with leather upholstery, differently designed dashboard and a host of new features. Available in three trim levels – G, V and Q – the 2016 Toyota Innova gets 7-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth and voice command support, dual-tone interior with silver accents, 8-inch entertainment system, smart entry key, automatic climate control and few other features. Some of the aforementioned features come with high-end trims only.
The new Toyota Innova 2016 is also safer than before with standard features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and three airbags. The top-of-the-line trim gets 7 airbags and Hill Start Assist.
The Indonesia Toyota Innova 2016 is being offered with two engine options – a 2.4-litre GD diesel and a 2.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine. Both the engines can be bought either with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The India-bound model, however, is expected to come only with the 2.4-litre GD diesel engine.
