Hyundai Creta, Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2016, has become the fastest Hyundai car in India to achieve over 1 lakh bookings. Out of these, the company has delivered 56,000 units. The Hyundai’s compact SUV was launched in July 2015 and it achieved this milestone within 8 months of launch.
YK Koo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “We thank our customers for the tremendous response with the record fastest 1 lakh bookings in 8 months. Like in the domestic market, CRETA has generated great response in Global markets with more than 28,000 orders. To reduce the waiting period, we are increasing CRETA production by 30% to total production of 13,000 units of which 10,000 units will be allocated for the domestic market.”
Not just in India, the Hyundai Creta has received a great response in global markets as well including Latin America, Middle East and Africa. The company claims to have exported a total of 16,000 cars from its Chennai-based facility.
Priced between Rs 9.1 lakh – Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the vehicle is available in three engine options – 1.6 petrol, 1.4-litre diesel and 1.6-litre diesel. While the 1.6-litre petrol mill is good for 121bhp and 151Nm, the 1.6-litre diesel unit develops 126bhp and 260Nm. The smaller diesel engine 1.4-litre CRDi, on the other hand, produces 89bhp and 220Nm.
