Besides new bumpers, updated grille (single slat in chrome) and revised tail-lamps, the new Honda Amaze 2016 looks more or less similar to the pre-facelift version.
The much-awaited Honda Amaze 2016 facelift was launched in India today at a starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The udpated model of the sub-compact sedan receives minor exterior udpates, new dual-tone interior and the first-in-class CVT gearbox.
Besides new bumpers, updated grille (single slat in chrome) and revised tail-lamps, the new Honda Amaze 2016 looks more or less similar to the pre-facelift version. The sub-compact sedan’s cabin, however, looks completely different with a new dashboard in dual-paint scheme, new instrument panel and audio-video navigation with touchscreen. The new Amaze’s interior seems to have taken its inspiration from the Honda Mobilio.
The Honda Amaze 2016 receives no mechancial upgrades, since it continues to feature the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines with no change in power output figures. The Amaze’s petrol engine belts out a maximum power output of 87bhp at 6000rpm and 109Nm at 4500rpm. The diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 99bhp at 3600rpm and 200Nm at 1750rpm.
A 5-speed manual gearbox comes standard with both the petrol and diesel versions, though the former can be bought with a 5-speed CVT automatic gearbox as well.
Katsushi Inoue, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “Amaze has been a very successful model since its launch 3 years ago and we have close to 2 lakh happy Amaze customers in India. We are confident that the New Amaze with bold new style, premium interiors with new age features will attract even more customers. The new Amaze has been designed keeping in view the customer feedback. We value our customers and always try to exceed their expectations.”
“Vehicle safety is a top priority for us at Honda. All Honda cars sold in India have ACE body structure, which ensures structural rigidity and integrity of the body shell of the car, in case of a collision. It is very encouraging to see the growing awareness of safety equipment in the minds of the consumers and so, from the forthcoming financial year, every new Honda model, introduced in the market will come equipped with Dual SRS Airbags as standard and by April 2017, our entire model line-up will have Dual SRS airbags as standard equipment,” he added.
