Fast cars are always an object of admiration by many but affordable for only select few. A fast car which easily cruises to 350-400kmph mark in a matter of few seconds is what we mean here. Though the legal driving standards are 80kmph to max 100kmph, these fast cars can be driven at fast, very fast indeed, because top performance and speed are what they promise.

Here is a list of some of the fastest cars in the world:

Beginning from the top order, the Hennessey Venom GT is the fastest car in the world with a top speed of 435km/h that touches the 0-100kmph mark in mere 2.5 seconds. It’s not shocking owing to the 7.0 litre LS7 Turbocharged V8 Twin Turbo engine that fits in this beast churning out an unbelievable power of 1244hp. The car was tested as the World’s fastest in Florida on NASA runway and bagged the Guinness Book of World Record title of the World Fastest Car. This prompted the company to announce the launch of the ‘World’s Fastest Edition’ of Venom GT pretty soon. The celebration edition is due to feature a new colour scheme of blue and red strips across a fully white body. According to the company, only 3 units of the celebration edition will be produced. The mean machine is going to carry a mammoth 7.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine with a maximum churning capacity of 1244bhp and peak torque of 1565Nm.

The second fastest car on the list is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The super sport reaches the 0-100kmph mark in just 2.4 seconds while achieving a top speed of 431km/h which was recently broken by Hennessey. The supercar houses a mammoth 8.0 litre W16 engine which develops a power of 1200hp. Though the car had earlier bagged the title of World’s Fastest Car bestowed by Guinness Book of World Record, the model lost the title to the Hennessey Venom GT just by a few kilometres.

Ranking third on the list of fastest car is the much unheard of car maker Koenigsegg Agera R. The massive machine packs a 5.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine which generates an impressive 1099hp. The car sprints from 0-100kmph in 2.9 seconds while the maximum speed achieved is 418km/h. The car needs special mention with its Ski Box and winter tires which enables it to cruise fine on the snow too.

The SSC Ultimate Aero which was tested by the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest car in the world in the year 2007 which lasted to July 2010, is also one of the most beautiful looking cars around. The mean machine packs a Twin Turbo V8 engine that gives an output of 1183 hp. The car touches down 100kmph in 2.7 seconds while the maximum speed attained remains 413 km/h.

The 9FF GT9 remains the same as SSC Ultimate Aero as far as maximum speed of 413kmph is concerned, but the car falls short of a few seconds while covering the 0-100kmph mark. It achieves the distance in 2.9 seconds and houses a 4.0 litre flat 6 Twin Turbo 1120hp engine to do that. The 9FF GT9 is based on Porsche 911 platform and comes with an optional exterior modification based on owner’s choice. The car is limited to only 20 units.

While all the above cars list is of the fastest cars in the world, there is one more entry which features in the World’s Fastest Ultra-Luxury Saloon list. The Bentley Mulsanne Speed deserves a mention here as it is the fastest uber premium saloon in the world producing 530hp of power and 1100Nm of peak torque. The car dashes from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds with the top speed of 305kmph.
