With Ford Figo Aspire, priced at Rs 4.89 lakh for the base Ambiente variant, the US automaker has arrived on the compact sedan scene in India. This is quite late in the day as the rival carmakers have stolen a march on Ford, but still Figo Aspire is packed with impressive mechanics and features that can take the segment by storm – the top end Titanium AT variant is priced at Rs 7.79 lakh. Ford Figo Aspire’s leading rival is none other than Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, which has proved year after year that no one can beat it, in India. The pre-launch registration had already started from 27th July with an upfront payment of Rs. 30,000 and according to the company, a good number of advance booking have been made that is enough to give this car the much-needed boost. Ford Figo Aspire has been launched in 8 variants including two automatic variants. Let us have a look what the Figo Aspire packs for its consumers.
1. Ford Figo Aspire: Looks
Figo Aspire takes the crown for being the most good looking and stylish sub-4 metre compact sedan in a pool of mediocre players. It’s Aston Martin inspired nose is an eye-ball grabber indeed. Ford’s Kinetic design philosophy and styled trapezoid shaped radiator grill in the front will surely make many a prospective customer opt for Figo Aspire ahead of its rivals. Its aerodynamic design with a slanting bonnet coupled with visible character lines makes it a hit. A wide windscreen is offered for a better view of the road ahead. A trendy headlight cluster with a couple of round fog lamps adds a conventional touch too. Neatly carved wheel arches fitted with a pair of alloy wheels render the side profile attractive. The rear end is complete with an expressive boot lid that includes a chrome strip and the company’s badge on it. Bright tail lamps with integrated turn indicators forms an interesting rear profile.
2. Ford Figo Aspire: Interiors
Coming to the interiors, the cabin of Ford Figo Aspire gets dual tone black and beige interiors with piano black dashboard and steering wheel and chrome highlights across. The car gets segment first leather upholstery with comfortable seats. Other comfort factors include adjustable front head restraints, power assisted steering, manually operated AC unit, front power windows, reclining and sliding front seats, drink holders and storage units.
The top variants include parking sensors, remote central locking, multi-functional steering wheel, dual front sun visors, intermittent front wipers and many other features. The car gets Ford’s SYNC infotainment system along with voice controls and AppLink smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, USB, AUX-in and CD/MP3 player.
3. Ford Figo Aspire: Safety
Ford Figo Aspire focus on safety comes in the shape of 6 airbags, Emergency Assistance with the SYNC integration, ABS and EBD, 3-point seat belt, centrally located fuel lamp and high mounted stop lamp.
4. Ford Figo Aspire: Engine
Mechanically, Figo Aspire comes in two petrol and one diesel variant. A 1.5 litre TDCI updated diesel engine, borrowed from the EcoSport/Fiesta delivers 100PS of power and 215Nm of peak torque. The 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine churns out 88PS of power and comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.5 litre Ti-VCT mill churns out 112PS of power and is paired to segment first 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
5. Ford Figo Aspire: Fuel efficiency
Both the petrol and diesel variants are very fuel efficient and promise to deliver 18.2kmpl and 25.8kmpl respectively, which was a necessity in order to compete in the segment. The model has been launched in four trim levels – Ambient, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+. Figo Aspire locks horns with Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Zest among others in the segment.
